Meetup of participants, at pre-established time with our guide, at the Temple of Juno entrance followed by a guided tour of the suggestive Valley of the Temples.
Starting from the Temple of Juno you will follow the Via Sacra and pass the early Christian necropolis to arrive at the Temple of Concordia, one of the best-preserved temples of the ancient Greek world.
Continuing further we will visit the Temple of Hercules, the remains of the Temple of Zeus and the Temple of Castor and Pollux, symbol of the city.
Between the Temple of Castor and Pollux and the temple of Vulcano, extends a vast green area known as the “Kolymbethra Garden” which offers remarkable arboreal and scenic variety. In the steeper areas there are typical species of the Mediterranean Scrub: in the flat areas of the valley, beyond the small river bordered by reeds, extends a citrus grove with lemons, mandarin oranges and others of ancient varieties. Where the water does not arrive mulberries, carob trees, prickly pears, almond trees and gigantic “Saracen” olive trees are also to be found.
Picnic with a “rustic country basket” is to be enjoyed in the shade of the majestic trees of the garden.
